2016 Youth of the Year, Tavian Vassar

Tavian Vassar epitomizes the Youth of the Year title. After earning a 3.7 GPA from Doherty High School, Tavian competed with 1,500 other youth to earn one of 60 scholarships which provided him a tuition-free acceptance to Bucknell University, where he’s pursuing biomedical engineering. Aside from his academic success, Tavian excels on the track team and football field, which he’ll be continuing at Bucknell. He credits his time at the Club with instilling his drive for success: “It’s really where I cultivated my passion for community, my passion for academics. I don’t think I would be who I am today without the Boys & Girls Club. The Boys & Girls Club and all of my friends there were there for me during my toughest times”.
