School Aged Child Care Site Coordinator

SITE COORDINATOR, FULL-TIME

For 132 years, the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester has been a leader in youth development with sites in Main South, Plumley Village, and Great Brook Valley. The organization is currently looking for a site coordinator for our EEC-licensed school age childcare (71 kids, ages 5 – 13) located at our Harrington Clubhouse in the Main South neighborhood of the city.

Reporting directly to the Director of School Age Child Care, the site coordinator will assist with the supervision, training, and support of the school age group leaders and assistant leaders. The site coordinator will also promote the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of all the children served, and oversee the development of personalized service plans, as needed. In addition, the site coordinator will provide program and activity development support, including the creation of a calendar of activities and events.  Administrative and clerical tasks include, but are not limited to, the taking of daily attendance, billing for services, interfacing with EEC and CCR, making phone calls to parents, filing, scheduling transportation (not applicable at this time) and ensuring the compliance of all EEC guidelines at all times.

As our school age childcare program is currently serving as a learning hub, Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., the site coordinator will assist the education coordinator and group and assistant group leaders with the provision of remote learning for the children we serve. Please note: in the summer, our hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and during the regular school year (non-COVID), our hours of operation are 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (site coordinator works from 10 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.).

As required by EEC, the coordinator must be at least 20 years of age and meet one of the following sets of requirements:

Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Guidance, Human Services, Nursing, Psychology, Physical Education, Recreation, Child Psychology, the Arts, Social Work, Sociology, or Child Care: and have six months of experience working with school age children; or

Have a Bachelor’s Degree in any field or an Associate’s Degree in any field listed above and have nine months of experience working with school age children; or

Have a high school diploma or equivalent; and have one year of experience working with school age children.

The following are preferred skills and behaviors for this position:

Bilingual in Spanish & English, highly preferred;

Strong writing and verbal communication skills;

Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;

Experience in childcare billing, preferred;

Experience in providing strength-based supervision and support to staff;

Knowledge of youth development;

Works well in a diverse cultural environment;

Committed to addressing inequities and developing a culture of accountability and inclusivity in the workplace and community;

Passionate about Boys & Girls Club of Worcester’s mission and impact;

Ability to build strong relationships with parents and our partners, including EEC, CCR, transportation provider and school systems.

Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems;

Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth;

Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment;

CPR and First Aid Certifications required (Club will arrange for recertification, if need); and

A “people-person” and team-player who will do whatever it takes to create a safe and nurturing environment for both children and staff.
