Position Description
The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester seeks a part-time Program Assistant for our Harrington Clubhouse, located in the Main South neighborhood in Worcester. This is a 29 hour per week Monday through Friday work week during the school year 2pm to 8pm. There is potential for 40 hour per week during summer programming 8am to 4pm. The Program Assistant is responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of youth and implementing fun and engaging academic enrichment and recreational programs in the learning center and assisting in other rooms when needed. $16-$18/hour.
The Program Assistant will support the work of the Education Coordinator and may participate in special programs or events. Under the direction of the Education Coordinator, oversees the daily activities of members while they are in the learning center. Light maintenance and upkeep of program areas and the facilities will be required to maintain the cleanliness of the Clubhouse. May be required to lift up to fifty (50 pounds). Participation in other Clubhouse activities may be required, such as supporting our food pantry, assisting in other programming. Must have reliable transportation. Must be willing to work on the weekends if necessary.
Qualification requirements
Preferred but not required: A minimum of two years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.
Education: High School degree (or equivalent) required
Skills/Knowledge required in the following areas:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong computer/technological skills preferred
- Group leadership skills including an understanding of group dynamics.
- CPR and First Aid certifications, preferred.
- Bilingual, preferred.
