Fitness Instructor

Position Description

The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester seeks a part-time or full -time Fitness Instructor for our Harrington Clubhouse Fitness Center, located in the Main South Neighborhood in Worcester. This position is from Monday through Friday work week during the school year, summer programming run from 8am to 4pm. The Fitness Instructor is responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of youth and implementing fun and engaging fitness-oriented programming directed for members to include but not limited to yoga, boxing, cardio, and weight training.

The Fitness Instructor  is responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of youth and implementing fun and engaging fitness-oriented programming directed for members to include but not limited to yoga, boxing, cardio, and weight training.

The Fitness Instructor will be working with the Boxing Instructor, reporting directly to the Senior Case Manager and may participate in special programs or events. Under the direction of the Boxing Instructor, is responsible for the daily activities of members while they are in the Fitness Center. Light maintenance and upkeep of program areas and the facilities will be required to maintain the cleanliness of the Clubhouse. May be required to lift up to fifty (50 pounds). Participation in other Clubhouse activities may be required, such as supporting other programming. Must have reliable transportation.

Qualification requirements

Experience: A minimum of two years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people. Prior fitness instruction, and or equivalent background.
Education: High School degree (or equivalent) required;  ISSA, NASM, ASFA certifications or equivalent Fitness certification required.
Skills/Knowledge required in the following areas:
•    Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
•    Strong computer/technological skills preferred
•    Group leadership skills including an understanding of group dynamics.
•    CPR and First Aid certifications, preferred.
•    Bilingual, preferred.
